Texas Politics Miscellany consists of political campaign brochures, broadsides, cards, speeches, mailers, newspaper advertisements, and a bumper sticker from Texas during the late 19th century and early 20th century. Notable items include copies of a brochure and the opening speeches from Miriam "Ma" Ferguson's gubernatorial reelection bid in 1926, she eventually lost the democratic primary to Dan Moody. The collection also contains a brochure for Ma Ferguson's Republican opponent for governor in 1924, George C. Butte, as well as an interview with W.C. Hogg concerning impeachment proceedings against her. There are several speeches and articles concerning prohibition in Texas, as early as 1886, a bumper sticker from one of Dan Moody's campaigns for governor, and a 1944 political mailer from the Austin Chapter of the Texas Committee to abolish the poll tax.

Miriam Amanda Wallace (Ma) Ferguson (1875-1961), first female Governor of Texas, was born in Bell County, Texas, on June 13, 1875. She attended Salado College and Baylor Female College at Belton. In 1899, she married James Edward Ferguson. From 1915 to 1917, Mrs. Ferguson served as the first lady of Texas until her husband's impeachment during his second administration.
